Ron Helman was executive director for the Michigan Tech Fund from 1976 to 1996, and Michigan Technological University vice president for advancement from 1987 until his retirement in 1996. Following his retirement from MTU, he served for 18 months as a part-time advancement advisor to former Finlandia University President Robert Ubbelohde. A native of Bessemer, Michigan, Margaret Holley Chapman grew up in Lake Linden and graduated from Calumet High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lawrence College in 1932 and went on to attend Michigan College of Mining and Technology, becoming the first female to receive a degree from the college.
